Gabriel Tamaş (born 9 November 1983 in Braşov) is a Romanian football defender of Hungarian descent. He currently plays for AJ Auxerre.

Football career

Tamaş started his career at native clubs in lower divisions. In the summer of 2002 he transferred to Dinamo Bucureşti, and a year later went to Galatasaray.

He then moved to FC Spartak Moscow in January 2004, but got loaned back to Dinamo Bucureşti in summer 2004, returning to Spartak in January 2006. Another loan soon followed, this time to Celta de Vigo in summer 2006.

International career

He made his debut for Romania against Slovakia in March 2003.

He was the captain of Romanian U-21 team, who finished third of group of in 2006 UEFA U-21 Championship qualification.
