Vladimir Gabulov (Russian: Владимир Борисович Габулов, born 19 October 1983 in Ordzhonikidze, North Ossetian ASSR) is a Russian football goalkeeper of Ossetian ethnicity. He plays for FC Amkar Perm and Russia national football team. In May 2008, FC Dynamo Moscow general director Dmitry Ivanov has announced that Gabulov will return to Dynamo for a second stint with the club, as the transfer has been arranged with his rights holders, FC Kuban Krasnodar (he was on loan to Amkar). The transfer has not been officially finalized as of May 26th. [1] He surname also romanizated as Gaboulov.
CareerGabulov joined FC Dynamo Moscow from North Ossetia-Alania side FC Mozdok in Russian Second Division. He returned to the republic for Alania Vladikavkaz in the mid of 2001 season, after the left of coach Valery Gazzaev. He played until the end of 2003 season. He joined the PFC CSKA Moscow in December 2002, signed a 5-year contract.[2] He reported to squad at the start of 2004 season. In 2007 season, he moved to FC Kuban Krasnodar, move out from the shadow of Igor Akinfeev. Despite having himself a good season, FC Kuban was relegated at the end of the 2007 season. In January 2008, he was FC Amkar Perm on loan , and then joined Dynamo Moscow on May 23.[3] International careerVladimir played his first match for Russia national football team on August 22, 2007 against Poland in friendly and was substituted by Anton Shunin in the half-time. Then he was chosen to play in a vital match against England, likely due to that Igor Akinfeev was injured and Vyacheslav Malafeev was in poor form at the moment. If Russia would have lost the match, it would have made qualification impossible. In a dramatic 2-1 comeback, a home victory over England on October 17, 2007, he made key saves to keep Russia in the game at 0-1, in a match they were able to turn around in the second half.
